Cindy's Class Talked About Families
This ArtHouse wall decoration was given to us by Cindy, who teaches kindergarten in
Battle Creek Michigan. Cindy told us about when her class was learning about families.
They talked first about their own families and then about other families in the community
and around the world. For this particular project each kindergartener was asked to draw
their own family. Meanwhile, Cindy took digital photos of her students. The children
pasted print-outs of their own pictures into the hand-drawn scenes with their families.
Imagine how striking this collection of kids' artwork must have been, when loaded into
the three-dimensional context of ArtHouse - what a great classroom conversation starter -
ArtHouse is especially suited for back to school art activities at all grade levels
because it's easy for students to share a little bit about themselves with each other.
Playing within dollhouses they've created themselves is a terrific self-esteem booster
for young learners, and a wonderful way to reinforce lessons in memory.
(Cindy's kids took their art home. This is the page Cindy made to introduce her project.)
You're invited to submit art to the ArtHouse Children's Art Gallery!
