Dawson is both our neighbor and a terrific young artist. He specializes in trains of
all kinds. (Trolleys too!) The train in this piece was traced from a photo in a book
onto vellum. That can be a good exercise - the artist is challenged to decide for
themself which contour lines are "important". Notice how the train picture was pasted
onto a background picture (on regular paper) AFTER the background itself was drawn and
colored. Color is coming through the vellum. Very cool!
Dawson's mother Kari owns and operates an exceptional family childcare center. Two
