How to Do a Book Report: Misty of Chincoteague in Storyboards

Stacey's Misty of Chincoteague Book Report

Stacey (grade 5) sent us this lovely illustration from her presentation on "Misty of Chincoteague" (the classic story by Marguerite Henry.)

Storytelling and book reports encourage thoughtful reading while building critical-thinking, organization and presentation skills for young readers. We often hear of older students practicing storytelling and presentations to younger (pre-literate) students. It's more than a sentimental nod to the days of one-room schoolhouses: it's part of nurturing a culture of literacy! Naturally, ArtHouse is wonderful for adding a highly interactive, flexible, three-dimensional backdrop to storytelling and oral presentations... even puppet shows and dramatic play!
